How Can Long-Tail Keywords Help My Business?
We all know that SEO and keyword research is a never-ending and constantly changing aspect of your digital marketing strategy, but every business has that make or break moment where you can remain stagnant or take the jump to the next level. Link building, social sharing, SEM and SEO are all important and relevant but what happens you’ve succeeded with many of your head keywords? Do you continue to optimize content for the keywords you already rank for, or do you move on to new ones? One strategy that we’ve implemented here that can produce profit for your dealership are long-tail keywords.
How Do You Optimize Content for Long-Tail Keywords?
This is a great question and one that has several answers. First you need to be using the Google Keyword tool. When you type in a relevant search term in the Keyword tool, you will find others that are related to it at the top. If you continue to scroll down, you’ll see that there are long-tail keywords at the bottom. These can give you a rough start on what you could possibly be optimizing some content for. Another great way to find long-tail keywords is to answer questions that your very own customers may have. A question such as, “What are the best tires for winter weather?” is a great blog topic to gain traffic from those who need new tires. Anything more specific to your dealership or a service that you may offer that others don’t is a possible sale for you.
Long-tail Keywords Bring Profit
According to a study done by Search Engine Watch, keywords with 6-10 characters generate a high number of impressions, but don’t necessarily generate a proportional amount of clicks and conversions. However, nearly 60 percent of all impressions and clicks occur with 11-20 character keywords. Further studies showed that 26-40 character keywords generate a lower number of impressions, but they are more efficient than head keywords because they produce conversions.
Long-Tail Keywords for Car Dealerships
What long-tail keywords can you use for your car dealership you may ask? Well, for starters use the questions. If you have customers asking you questions, turn that into a long-tail keyword and build a page or write a blog about it. You can also use neighboring cities, regions or states attached to your vehicle or vehicle brand. Using a term like “Northern Illinois Chevy Dealer” can pay dividends to your store if people are searching for that instead of a specific city.
As always, make sure that you do the research and know what people want to find. If you know the answer to that, you’ve already won half the battle.
